Today the senior school shared their Science Fair projects with our school community.
The classes were alive with students sharing their learning from the past term's projects and we were lucky enough to have a large and interested audience! Thanks to all those who visited!
We were all particularly impressed with the student's depth of knowledge and ability to talk about their investigations - such a wide variety!
Here are some shots of the action!

The Senior School gets creative with clay!
After learning about Australian illustrator Shaun Tan and exploring his 3D Clay illustrations of the Brothers Grimm Fairytales in the book "The Singing Bones". Students were inspired to write their own myths and create illustrations for these (or other myths they had read) from clay. The finished sculptures, along with the students' writing, will be on display at our Celebration of Learning on 6th July. Please come and have a look!

Year 8s Only - Abel Tasman Fundraiser
08.06.15
Abel Tasman
Chocolate Fundraiser
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
To help keep the cost down
for our Abel Tasman adventure at the end of the year our Year 8s will be doing
some fundraising this term. Next week each Year 8 student will be given a box
of Whittakers chocolates to sell. Every box sold is $24 profit! Our goal is for
every student to sell at least one box each but there is the option to sell
more.
The profit of the 1st box
sold will go towards reducing the overall cost of the camp. The profit of any
additional boxes sold by a child will go towards reducing their camp fee. For example if a child sold 3 boxes, the first box
profit goes to the whole camp budget and the other two boxes ($48) comes off
the child's fee.
More information regarding
selling the chocolates will come home next week.
If for whatever reason you
do not wish for your child to sell chocolates please let me know or simply
return the full box of chocolates to school.
All money (plus any unsold
chocolates) from the first box needs
to be returned to school by Friday 8th
July (the last day of this term).
If, however, your child is keen to sell additional boxes over the
holiday this can easily be arranged with the office or myself.
If you have any questions
or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
King regards,
Annette Borgonje

Digital
Safety – Invitation to talk!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Next term we are keen to
explore ‘The Internet’ as our Inquiry focus – including looking at the pros and
cons, risks and how to keep ourselves safe online. We would like your thoughts on any key issues
you may wish us to cover so would like to invite you to an informal ‘chat’ over
a hot cuppa after our Learning Celebration evening on Wednesday 6th July.
The focus for this
gathering will be twofold:
i) Any concerns you have or
issues you may like us to address during our Term 3 Inquiry
ii) Sharing any suggestions
for ways parents might manage digital safety at home (from you the experts!)
We will also be able to
share some resources that may be useful in talking about digital safety with
your child.
It would be really helpful
if you could RSVP so that we have an idea of numbers. Please either e mail me borgonje@muritai.school.nz or your classroom teacher before Friday 17th
June to let us know if you plan to attend.
If you have any questions
or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
King regards,
Annette Borgonje
