What a great start everyone has made to the new year. The energy in our Senior School is really strong - there are a whole lot of motivated and positive kids, striving to do their very best. The teachers have been overwhelmed with all the outstanding letters we received expressing interest in leadership roles for 2014. We now have an incredibly tough task of selecting the right candidate for each job - I can see some headed discussion over the next week!
There has been soooo much going on over the first two weeks. The time has really flown by.
Here are some highlights from the past fortnight:
In week 1 our gardeners harvested a massive crop of spinach from our garden. What's the best thing to do with spinach... make muffins! Ms Coton and Room 22 whipped up a delicious batch of spinach and feta muffin which was perfect to share after a awesome (bit windy) afternoon wharf jumping at Days Bay.
This week our Technicraft programme started with 3 of our groups heading over to Wainuiomata Intermediate for Food, Fabric and Hard Materials Technology. The remaining 3 groups stayed at school for Japanese, Music and Computer Coding.
On Thursday afternoon we also started our 'Rotation Sensation' which consists of 4 groups doing either Science, Visual Art, Sport or Drama/Dance.
Over the past two Fridays a small group of students from Room 24 have been working on an art extension project with Mrs Allen. The art work is amazing! Check out the videos for what the meaning is behind the painting.
Also on Friday the students from Room 22 showcased their terrific Rube Goldberg machines to the rest of the team. They have been having a heap of fun trailing and perfecting their contraptions. Fantastic teamwork was displayed by all including successful balloon popping!
What an action packed couple of weeks! Of course there has been plenty of reading, writing and maths happening too!
The week ahead is dedicated to testing and by the end of the week we should hopefully know our school leaders for 2014!
