Term 4: Week 4

We have had a couple of shorter weeks with Labour Day and Teachers Only Day recently. For this update, I thought I'd take you on a tour of some of the classroom blogs in the Senior School to see what's been happening.

Frog Homework

A couple of weeks ago the senior students were given a very creative homework task where the opportunities were endless... unless it had something to do with frogs! To check out some examples that were created click on the link below to take you to Room 22's blog.

 Room 22

Another great example is this movie that was created by Felix, Jonathan and Noah in Room 24 using. What is so amazing about this movie is that the boys created it together while in their own separate homes using Minecraft and Skype! Awesome boys! And yes, there are frogs in the movie... even if they are on the menu!

Romeo and Juliet

We are currently comparing and contrasts two movie versions of this famous Shakespeare play. The students in Room 24 have created some great descriptions on some characters from the play. Click on the link below to take you to Room 24's blog - they are well worth the read!

DARE Programme

We had a fantastic 3 weeks working with Constable Julie. We have all learnt a lot great deal from her experiences and knowledge.

One of the final activities we did with Julie was seeing the awful effects smoking cigarettes has on your body. Simply using a plastic bottle, cotton wool, a tube and of course a cigarette we were able to see (and smell) just how disgusting the poison in smoke can harm the smoker and others around them. JUST GROSS!

We were also lucky enough to have a special visit from the Police Drug Dog Squad. They showed off their skills at detecting large quantities of money - finding the $20,000 cash (shredded) that Mr D had stuffed in his jacket and Mr Ranchod had stashed in his bag.

To celebrate the end of our DARE unit Constable Julie organised an awesome day at Naenae Pool! Thanks again Julie for sharing your vast knowledge with us all.

School Athletics
