Crunchy Bug Cornflakes Anyone??

Last week the Senior School went to the Roxy Theatre to watch "Bugs", a very interesting documentary that looked at how insects are an important source of food and the many different types of bugs people eat around the world

As a cheap, sustainable, rich source of protein locusts, also known as grasshoppers, are a popular food source around the world and are even considered a delicacy in many countries.

New Zealand has a few species of native locusts, some of them are even bred to be eaten. We decided to order up a storm of locusts to try them ourselves.

The feedback from the brave students who chomped on a bug is that they were very crunchy and tasted a little “like chicken”.

Art Ambassadors in Action!

Today was our Art Ambassadors first Art Club for Year 3/4.

The focus was drawing facial features and the session was fabulous.

Well done team!

Hutt STEMM Challenge

As part of the annual "Hutt STEMM Festival' two teams from the Senior School competed in the 'STEMM Challenge'  held at the Dowse Art Gallery this week. Students competed in a quiz and complete practical activities that tested their knowledge and understanding in STEMM subjects.

The event was a great way to highlight the importance of STEMM subjects and gave students an opportunity to challenge themselves while having a lot of fun.
