Room 21 Buddy Easter Hunt

This afternoon Room 21 decided to lead their Room 11 buddies on an Easter Hunt.

Before they went on their hunt, all the students had to work together with their buddies to create an Easter basket, ready to collect the gifts the Easter Bunny (Mrs Velvin) had left around the field.

Once the baskets were made, the students headed out in search of eggs. The eggs were found in two's (one for them and one for their buddy). Once they had collected an egg each, they came back together and enjoyed their treat.

Technicraft is awesome!

Every Wednesday, 55 of Team Kahu's students bus over to Wainui. Intermediate for a morning of sewing, cooking and woodwork. 
Projects are beginning to take shape as our students master the relevant skills.  The cooking smells amazing.
 A growth mindset is certainly needed, as the students try new things- such as chiselling, scribing, pinning and cleaning up, after cooking! - 
I can't wait to see there finished products.

STEM: Boat Challenge

Today Team Kahu were presented with a challenge; build a boat with limited materials that can hold 1kg of weight without sinking.

The materials were:

• 1 sheet of tin foil
• 20cm of tape
• 2 straws
• 1 pair of scissors

Students were able to see how the displacement of weight can effect how a boat floats or in some cases sink if the weight is not evenly distributed. 

We had some amazing designs and lots of success!

Waste Fairies 'Clean Up' at the Eastbourne Games

Well done to our enviro team, supported by Mrs Algar who did a fantastic job of keeping enviro issues at the forefront at the Eastbourne Games on Sunday.
