Term 1 Week 4

What an incredible couple of weeks it has been in our senior school. We have now finished most of our testing, our leadership roles have been allocated and we are coming to the end of our swimming programme. Below are some highlights from the last two weeks. Thanks to the people who have left a comment for us - we appreciate your feedback!

Leadership Roles.

The teachers and senior management team had an incredibly tricky task selecting our student leadership teams for 2015. The calibre of applicants were very high particularly for our Head Boy and Girl roles. We have so many worthy year 8 more than capable for the challenge. In saying that, we are very confident in the decisions that have been made and we know they are the right fit for this year.

Congratulations to everyone who received a role this year. We look forward to seeing you continue to develop your leadership potential and show your initiative in your specialised areas this year.

  Croquet.

The students in the Year 7/8 syndicate are lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to play croquet at the Muritai Croquet Club again this year. Our first group of students have had two sunny Friday afternoons to learn and play the game. A special thanks to Lynn and Val at the Croquet Club for giving their time to teach us!

Technicraft  - OnTV

As part of our Technicraft programme this year every group will have an opportunity to visit the OnTV studios at Capital E! Last week Group D was the first group to visit. They had a challenging task to write and learn scripts and perform and film it in just under a week! The students were all assigned roles (including director, sound mixer and producer)  to ensure the production was slick.

Fabric and Hard materials

There are some amazing creations starting to take shape in the sewing and woodwork rooms in Wainuiomata Intermediate. Only a few more weeks until they will be complete!

Swimming Sports

Last Thursday was the first chance for our newly appointed House Captains to get the spirit flowing for our annual Year 3-8 Swimming Sports at Huia Pool.

Well done to everyone who took part, particularly our race winners. Congratulations to Zali, Tom G, Ari and Helena who were our Year Group Champions. Room 23 were the clear winners for the class relay while King took out the House relay.

Our Muritai TV crew are currently mashing up some footage of the event and we will share it here once it's complete!
