Term 1: Week 6

Seaweek

In week 5 all of Muritai had the opportunity to focus their learning on the sea - which is very appropriate for us seems we are so close to it!

To start the week our Kapa Haka group took a lead role in welcoming Maoribank School to Muritai. Maoribank came to visit the Year 5/6 Team and spend the day at the beach. It was great to see our Year 7 girl Kapa Haka leaders do a fine job of welcoming them during the powhiri. Great effort Charlotte, Tilly, Yasmin and Nina!

We also used Sea week to focus our learning at home. All the teachers were blown away with what was created by the senior students over the week. From poetry, movies, reports, cakes and even killer shark water melons?!?

Top job Daan!

Check out some other Sea week projects on the classroom blogs:

Using our garden produce.

We have been growing lovely tomatoes in the Senior School garden. Last week the Enviro Team and Miss Coton used our homegrown produce to make some delicious tomato soup to share with students in the Senior School.

HRSA Athletics

Last Tuesday Mr Ranchod took a team of 28 students to the annual HRSA Athletics Meeting at Petone Rec. It was a fantastic day out with the Muritai team representing us proudly. Results to come soon!

Art from Room 24

Finally, check out this funky art created by the students in Room 24 using crushed soft drink cans. They are currently on display in the school foyer. Pretty cool!
